Bennett Engineering, Incorporated (BEI) wanted to apply its expertise to do something positive for the community after watching the horrific events of Tuesday, September 11, 2001 with other Americans on television.  BEI is dedicated to serving the helping professions such as educational organizations in efforts to use Information Technology (IT) to make lives better.  Therefore, our team agreed that we would immediately apply our software abilities to develop an application that could benefit kids and families during these frightening days.  Through this application, BEI hopes to provide on-line communication capability to the counselors and crisis team members that will extend their reach to those who need it online. 

The Message Board application provides the following featues that allow the counseling professionals in an organization to control the communication to ensure healthy feedback to students and their parents. 

1.      Once the "Message Board” will be made available, kids and parents can post questions, thoughts or comments.

2.      An Email will automatically be sent to the designated administrator in the organization (Webmaster or Crisis Team Member) for review and approval for posting on the “Message Board”.  When approved it will be titled and posted with a date and time stamp for viewing on the site.  All approved messages will be posted in chronological order.

3.      It is important to note that only designated personnel will be able to provide replies.  All replies will also be posted on the “Message Board” when the crisis team member or counselor logs in, creates the Email reply then simply clicks the “Reply” button.

4.      All questions, comments and replies except those deemed unacceptable will be added to an Access database with the title of the approved message as the topic and each reply as a sub-topic on the "Message Board”.

5.      Ongoing communication can be supported by using the application or moved to other forms of communication if deemed necessary by the professional. 

6.      The application can be custom modified to have the same “look and feel” as your existing Web Site.
